Tunable white treats colour temperature as a design material: the same space can track daylight in the morning, shift to a warm calm in the evening, and hold a neutral tone for work in between.
The technology is mature, but it is not a default. It adds complexity in control, commissioning and maintenance, and it only earns its place when the changing light genuinely serves the architecture and its users.
When used deliberately — a lobby, a wellness centre, a daylit atrium — tunable white becomes one of the quietest ways to make a building feel alive.
