Five questions to ask before specifying a luminaire

Aesthetic fit is where every conversation starts and where too many end. Five questions will tell you whether the choice survives contact with reality.

First: what does the photometric file actually say at the intended mounting height? Second: what is the real maintenance path — access, spares, lifespan? Third: does the light meet the project’s glare and dark-sky requirements? Fourth: how does it behave in the actual environment, from frost to salt air? Fifth: can the owner actually control it five years from now?

If a product answers all five, the aesthetics are a bonus rather than a gamble.
